Present Tense: Future Perfect, DATES Ruskin gallery, a group exhibition presenting art by the alumni and emerging talent of Cambridge School of Art.

´Present Tense: Future Perfect´ playfully uses the English grammatical term that is used to indicate an action that will be completed at some point in the future. This grammatical promise reflects on the personal and worldwide issues of our recent time. For artists and viewers alike, the world stood still, and promises were put on hold. This exhibition displays the latest work from a group of ever-evolving, emerging artists that can now, finally exhibit their work. Memory forms today, together the Cambridge alumni draw a line in the sand to analyse what has gone before and create a vision for the future.

When entering the exhibition, the process of creating an artwork is highlighted within the layout, on the ground floor finished pieces are displayed and when entering the first floor, you will see demonstrations of the individual artists process and the ideas that form when creating a final piece.

Personally, I am inspired by my intuitions when entering a space, my paintings are an imprint that document a memory or a series of architectural associations. On the first floor I expose my working practices by including a photograph of the building’s roof, the tape works as a connection between the painting and the photograph but also as entry and exit points. I work with different textured surfaces to create illusory worlds that react to the reality of the physical wall and back again.
